What should I bring for my stay?
We provide pillows and blankets, but please bring your own pillowcases, bedsheets and towels. We do not provide linens because there is no washer or dryer on-site.
Can I drink the tap water?
No, please don't. The tap water comes from the lake. We will provide you with two large jugs of water when you check in. You can refill these jugs at the local spring on Fred Jones Road, off Highway 118. Tap water is fine for brushing teeth and boiling pasta and rice.
What happens if the holding tank alarm goes off?
If this happens, please let us know right away. We do not have a septic system. Rather, we have a small holding tank that needs to be pumped out a few times a year. Please be mindful of your water consumption!
Is there parking on-site?
Yes, we have 2 parking spots. If you are with a larger group, please coordinate carpooling to ensure you have no more than 2 cars, and please make sure you use the designated spots.
Can we use the wood stoves?
The indoor wood stoves may be used between the months of September and May. June, July and August are typically quite hot, and heating is not required. In the winter, there are also electric baseboard heaters. We use these as our main source of heat, so we do not provide wood for the stoves.
What are the rules for bonfires?
Please check the Dysart et al. website for fire rules or restrictions during your stay. During dry summer months, there are often restrictions or even bans. If bonfires are allowed, please remember to bring your own fire wood.
What are the watercraft rules?
Lifejackets must be worn at all times when in or on any of the water equipment. Make sure the boats are tied up well when you're docked between excursions, and bring them onto the grass, turned upside down, at the end of each day. The watercrafts provided may only be used on Eagle Lake and Moose Lake, which are connected. If you would like to explore other lakes by boat, please bring your own.
Where do I dispose of garbage & recycling?
Please bring your garbage and recycling to the West Guilford Landfill. There is a card on the fridge with the hours of operation. Please do not leave garbage outside at any time or inside for prolonged periods, as this will attract mice.
What are the check-out instructions?
Please turn off all the lights, appliances, the ceiling fan, and electric heaters before you check out. Please take all the food you brought with you and remove all garbage and recycling. Leave the cottage as you found it!
